Creative Groups
Creativity Groups:
For twelve years I ran creativity groups based around writing, using Julia Cameron’s work on ‘recovering’ one’s creativity - described in books such as her ground breaking ‘The Artist’s Way’ (Pan Books, UK, 1995) - as a starting point.
Groups of six to eight people met once every six to eight weeks for a whole day and shared creative goals, dreams, work and strategies, helped one another to process issues which arose from this and found ways round the ‘blocks’ and to overcome internal negative criticism and have a good lunch!
Gradually members gained confidence in sharing writings and other projects (some professional, some highly personal) and derived enormous benefit from the warmth and comradeship provided by such an intimate group over time.
Themes often emerged and assignments were undertaken between meetings. Some of my longest established groups now meet together for support without me leading them.
Feedback from members of these groups has been enormously positive and members are clear in valuing these ‘soul enriching’ spaces in their often very busy lives.
Presently I have no ongoing creativity groups, but am planning instead to invite people to ‘Creative Retreats’ lasting four days or so in peaceful settings, to join together in these ways, so if you are interested, please contact me for details, an initial discussion together and possible future participation.
